Architecture of the Skyline Luanda

Luanda silhouette: bay of light, memory and progress

Skyline of Luanda from Ilha do Cabo towards the Luanda Bay, with a view to the southeast: a perfect curve where glass, granite and water draw the most iconic postcard of Angola. The panoramic view starts next to the Passageiros Maritime Terminal, flanked by the Presidente Hotel, and takes Avenida 4 de Fevereiro (the "Marginal") as the coastal axis that links the landmarks of the city.

On the bay front, towers and squares follow one another: the InterContinental Luanda Miramar is silhouetted against the slopes of Miramar; on the Marginal itself, the Torre Ambiente marks the rhythm of the promenade; behind it, the Loanda Towers (a mixed-use complex) loom; and, in the front line, the IMOB Business Tower raises the corporate silhouette. The complex gains density as it reaches the financial heart: the classic Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA), with its pink dome, dialogues with the Kianda Towers and the neighboring Edifício Kilamba. At its feet is the Monumento ao Soldado Desconhecido (Monument to the Unknown Soldier), the civic threshold of the capital.

The sequence continues with the Edifício Sede da Sonangol and the Torre Atlântico, which mark the most vertical stretch of the Marginal (Luanda Bay Waterfront) before the profile ascends inland towards the Memorial Dr. António Agostinho Neto, a monumental spire that crowns the view. As a historical closure on the promontory, the Fortaleza de São Miguel watches over the bay and the connection with the Ilha, sealing a panoramic view where modernity, memory and ocean meet in a single horizon line.

Silhouettes measuring 50 or 100 cm in length and 6 mm in thickness, made from engineered wood. The black version is made from MDF with a matte finish. The natural and brown versions combine an MDF core with a natural birch finish, bringing the texture and warmth of wood.

Instructions

Remove your city skyline from the box.

To ensure secure attachment, apply double-sided adhesive strips to the back of the skyline evenly, using a minimum of three to four attachment points.

Carefully wipe the surface where you wish to attach the skyline with a dry, dust-free cloth to ensure that the surface is free of grease and dirt.

Remove the protection from the back of the adhesive points and gently press the skyline against the desired surface to secure it in place.

Verify that the skyline is securely attached and is level before releasing it. Adjust if necessary.

How can they be attached to the wall?

In the product we include an envelope with padded double-sided adhesives to fix on the wall. They are transparent dots that must be peeled off and placed on the back of the piece distributing them evenly and in the thickest parts of the skyline, then remove the protection on the other side and fix on the wall.

Can it be hung on stippled or plastered walls?

There would be no problem to fix the skylines on a stippled wall as the double-sided adhesive tape we include is padded and very resistant. In addition, the skylines are not too heavy. However, you have to consider the roughness and type of stippling on your wall. We do not recommend it for brick or plastered walls. The ideal is to place it on a smooth wall, because it adheres better.

Is it possible to make this model in custom size or larger?

At the moment it is not possible, as we must take into account the logistical limitations of packages larger than 100 cm.

Each piece is 6 mm thick. The black version is made from MDF with a matte finish; the natural and brown versions combine an MDF core with a natural birch finish. The silhouette is cut with a high-precision laser for impeccable detail, and the edges are polished by hand. It is a handcrafted piece designed and made in Spain.
